Vision, Mission, Goal and General Objective

PROPEGEMUS FOUNDATION, INC. is a non-stock, non-profit, and non-governmental institution committed to the two-fold tasks of preserving the environment and promoting social equality — the two inseparable dimensions in the quest for a total human sustainability and development. Towards the realization of these goals, Propegemus encourages grassroots initiatives and subscribes to an integrated approach toward unifying and strengthening local organizations.

The Foundation was established on June 13, 1994 at the Bishop’s Palace, Butuan City, with the then Bishop of Butuan himself, Most Rev. Carmelo DF Morelos, D.D., as the Founding Chairman. It was registered at Security and Exchange Commission in January 17, 1995 with SEC Registration No. HN095-00020. The Foundation was organized to ably respond to the challenges arising from the spontaneous formation of local ecology groups in the diocese in view of the rapid denudation of Agusan’s rainforest as well as the aggravating global environmental decline and its resulting social upheaval.

Since its establishment, it has engaged in the service of local organizations in grassroots communities that simultaneously addressed the twin problems of rural poverty and ecological destruction of rainforests and watersheds. Environmental campaigns, watershed preservation and reforestation, conservation of priority protected area projects (CPPAP), agrarian reform, and M&E of mangrove reforestation are among the types of projects implemented by the Foundation.
